This project aims to develop an antibody microarray for simultaneous monitoring of various histone modifications, which are crucial for gene expression and cellular processes. This technology will facilitate faster and more efficient analysis in research and drug screening across different biological contexts.
Histones are the major structural proteins of eukaryotic DNA.
Two copies each of the core histones, H2A, H2B, H3 and H4, form the core nucleosome, the basic unit of chromatin.
Histone tails protrude from the nucleosome structure and are subject to a variety of post-translational modifications on multiple residues, including methylation, acetylation, phosphorylation, sumoylation, ubiquitination and polyribosylation.
