HighMag focuses on developing rechargeable magnesium batteries as a sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries. The project aims to enhance battery performance and safety through innovative materials and manufacturing processes, while also addressing recycling and scalability for the battery industry.
HighMag proposes rechargeable magnesium batteries as sustainable, low-cost alternatives to Li-ion batteries using two cathode chemistries: a magnesium sulphur battery with a conversion cathode and a magnesium metal battery with an insertion cathode.
HighMag will also develop a powder-based anode using protectively coated, Mg-based powder particles, that is compatible with both cathodes.
