This project focuses on understanding ice formation, particularly how impurities and surfaces influence the process. By utilizing computer simulations, it aims to clarify the mechanisms of heterogeneous ice nucleation, which has implications for climate modeling and industrial applications.
Ice formation is one of the most common phase transitions on Earth.
It is relevant to an enormous variety of phenomena such as weathering, cloud formation, airline safety, agriculture, and energy.
However, despite having been studied since antiquity, our molecular level understanding of ice formation is largely incomplete.
