The HELIWIND project aims to enhance the Helical Anchor technology for floating offshore wind energy systems. By addressing installation challenges and developing predictive tools, the project seeks to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of offshore wind energy deployment.
Helical Anchor (HA)—steel shaft with helical plates—provides a cost-efficient solution for floating offshore wind (FLOW), a crucial element of the EU’s energy transition.
FLOW costs remain high (2~4 times fixed-bottom systems), partly due to mooring foundations, which account for 20~30% of expenses.
