This project investigates barriers to healthcare access in six Asian countries, focusing on the financial challenges faced by households and the high costs of care. It evaluates programs aimed at improving healthcare use, quality, and cost containment to protect families from financial distress due to health issues.
In much of Asia, households are liable for large out-of-pocket payments when they use health services.
As a result, many fail to seek care or get inadequate care, while others seek care but end up in financial difficulty.
