This project examines how herbivores interact through shared host plants, specifically focusing on maize. It investigates the genetic and biochemical mechanisms behind a newly discovered plant compound that influences herbivore behavior, particularly under different feeding scenarios.
Herbivores can interact with each other indirectly via the shared host plant, for instance via the induction of plant defenses.
Indirect plant-mediated interactions strongly influence herbivore behavior and performance and shape plant-associated arthropod communities.
