This project focuses on engineering interfaces between living cells and synthetic materials using fibronectin, a protein that supports cell behavior. It aims to create surfaces that mimic natural extracellular matrices to enhance cell adhesion and function, particularly for stem cells.
Cells within tissues are surrounded by fibrillar extracellular matrices (ECM) that support cell adhesion, migration, proliferation and differentiation.
Fibronectin (FN) is an ECM protein organized into fibrillar networks by cells through an integrin-mediated process.
