HEAAT aims to create a detailed historical record of material culture and identity changes among the Ilchamus community in Kenya over 200 years. The project seeks to understand the significance of objects as identity markers and their evolution through time.
HEAAT aims to develop a 200-year, high-resolution record of material culture and identity change among the Ilchamus community in Kenya from c. 1800 to the present and understand when and why certain objects are chosen as identity markers, why they persist, and when and why changes in daily practices occur.
