This project reexamines the concept of honour in ancient Greek literature, arguing that it is a complex and pluralistic notion rather than a simple competitive value. By integrating insights from various disciplines, it aims to transform the understanding of honour's role in social dynamics and justice.
If ‘honour’ is an outmoded term, its modern analogues – esteem, respect, recognition, dignity, status, prestige, deference, face, image, etc. – still shape the dynamics of human social interaction.
