Halt-RONIN focuses on understanding non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its progression to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). By integrating experimental models and human data, the project aims to identify biomarkers and molecular targets to enhance diagnosis and treatment strategies for NAFLD.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a multifactorial chronic inflammatory disease that is prevalent in 1 of 4 individuals with a significant personal, socioeconomic and healthcare burden, especially at the later, more severe inflammatory stage of disease - non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
