The project investigates convergent evolution in Trinidadian guppies to understand the genetic basis of adaptive traits. It aims to identify genomic regions linked to repeated adaptations under similar environmental pressures.
Many species have independently evolved similar phenotypes in response to similar environmental challenges.
This phenomenon, termed convergent evolution, reflects both the power and the limits of adaptation.
