The GrowDiv project explores how biological systems achieve organization through uncoupled cell division and growth. By simulating the dynamics of cell behavior in developing organisms, it aims to reveal how these processes influence tissue mechanics and spatial arrangements.
Biological systems such as developing organisms, growing tissues, or expanding bacterial biofilms depend on two key processes—cell division and growth.
While division increases cell numbers, growth enlarges individual cells.
