This project aims to assess the greenhouse gas emissions and absorption of a short rotation coppice plantation of poplar. It seeks to determine the potential of these plantations to sequester carbon dioxide and mitigate climate change effects in Europe.
The main objectives of the project proposed here will be to produce a full accounting of the greenhouse gas balance of a short rotation coppice (SRC) plantation of poplar.
The ultimate goal is to examine the potential of SRC cultures to reduce air CO2 concentration in Europe and to mitigate climate change.
