GEO-HABIT focuses on mapping and understanding deep-sea environments to protect biodiversity. It studies the relationship between seafloor geology and habitat distribution, employing advanced geophysical methods and statistical analyses to inform conservation strategies.
It is widely recognized that important efforts must be done towards the protection and preservation of the Deep-Sea environments, which are increasingly threatened by human impacts (e.g.: trawl fishing and marine pollution).
