The GENMAR project investigates gender inequality in fisheries, focusing on the marginalization of women in governance and management processes. By conducting ethnographic research in multiple countries, it aims to understand the dynamics of gender advocacy and the impact of policies on women's roles in the sector.
Fishery is commonly conceived of as a “man’s world”, even if women comprise half of the fisheries and aquaculture work force value chain globally.
