This project explores the genetic factors influencing muscle fiber properties, which are crucial for muscle mass and strength. It uses various mouse strains to identify genetic variations that affect muscle characteristics, aiming to enhance understanding of muscle function.
A loss of muscle mass and strength with aging or disease leads to a compromised quality of life.
Therefore, it is important to understand the mechanisms underlying muscle function.
