This project aims to improve the efficiency of numerical simulations for partial differential equations by developing new solvers that adapt based on error estimates. The goal is to significantly reduce computational time while ensuring accurate outcomes, particularly in environmental applications.
Efficient use of computational resources with a reliable outcome is a definite target in numerical simulations of partial differential equations (PDEs).
Although this has been an important subject of numerical analysis and scientific computing for decades, still, surprisingly, often more than 90% of the CPU time in numerical simulations is literally wasted and the accuracy of the final outcome is not guaranteed.
