This project explores the use of functionalized oligoprolines as new catalysts and ligands for chemical reactions. It aims to create switchable catalytic systems that mimic natural processes and develop a platform for synthesizing oligomers from monomers based on the assembly of oligoproline units.
Although oligoprolines have been known for decades up till the recent years they have only been applied as spacers in the study of energy and electron transfer phenomena.
Recently a new methodology for the functionalisation of their backbones has been developed.
