FUNBIT focuses on discovering hidden natural products by studying microbial interactions, particularly between fungi and bacteria. Using advanced imaging techniques, the project aims to reveal compounds that could lead to new antibiotics and biopesticides, enhancing agricultural disease management.
FUNBIT aims to enhance the discovery rate of natural products applying a multidisciplinary workflow guided by Imaging MS.Microbial genetics predict that the natural products we have discovered so far are only the tip of the iceberg, thus we may be missing the antibiotics and biopesticides of the future.
