This project investigates the evolutionary origins of Bacillus anthracis, the anthrax pathogen, by studying its relationship with insect pathogens. It aims to understand gene regulation and virulence in related strains using various infection models.
Despite their importance, little is known about the origins of many emerging human pathogens and the way that invertebrates could shaped their evolution.
