FRESHFILM aims to create innovative food packaging materials that extend the shelf life of fresh products while being recyclable. By incorporating natural oxygen scavengers, the project addresses key challenges in the flexible packaging market for meat and other food items.
FRESHFILM will create a highly-functional film food packaging, that will strongly serve two main end-user communities:
Food Processing Industry & Plastic Packaging Industry (meat processing vs. fresh food processing).
These are mature sectors which create annual revenues in Europe in €147 billion and €12 billion respectively and require continues innovation to differentiate in a strong-competition market and to attend a consumer demand with increasing level of quality exigency.
