This project examines consumer behavior regarding free digital content offered in exchange for personal data. Through online experiments, it aims to understand how pricing influences decisions on data sharing and consumer rights.
Many online services and products are offered ‘free’ of charge but in exchange for personal data.
Research shows that consumers overvalue the benefits and undervalue the non-monetary costs of zero-price products.
