ForeStMap aims to create a methodology for obtaining three-dimensional information on forest structures using various remote sensing data. It will validate methods across different forest types to aid in carbon accounting and climate adaptation.
ForeStMap aims at developing an innovative methodology to derive 3-D information on forest structure at different scales, local to regional, based on a multi-source RS data (multispectral, LiDAR and SAR). A 2-phase approach will be applied.
First local estimates from airborne data will be provided and will be subsequently used as reference data to up-scale estimates to a regional scale based on satellite data.
