This project investigates the long-term effects of civil conflict on land ownership in Colombia. By analyzing historical census data from the province of Antioquia, it aims to understand how violence influences land tenure and supports land restitution policies in post-conflict scenarios.
This proposal aims to develop a research agenda on the long-term effect on civil conflict on institutions, particularly on land tenure structure. I start by building a theoretical model to establish the mechanisms and incentives through which actors involved in an armed conflict may be interested on fighting over the control and property rights of rural land.
