FluidBorder explores the historical management of the lower Danube River between Romania and Bulgaria during the communist era. It examines how local conditions influenced river management strategies and the often-hidden tensions that affected international relations in the Eastern Bloc.
FluidBorder investigates the complex history of Romanian-Bulgarian transboundary management of the lower Danube from the establishment of communist regimes until their collapse in 1989.
The project is grounded in two key hypotheses:
