FLATS proposes to develop a quantum metrology platform using twisted bilayer graphene to create advanced electrical standards and sensors. This project aims to integrate multiple quantum functionalities on a single chip, enhancing measurement accuracy beyond classical limits.
The ultimate limit on the accuracy of any measurement is set by quantum mechanics, this also means that quantum effects can be used in metrology and sensing to go well beyond any classical approach.
For classical systems, statistical error is proportional to 1/sqrt(N) with N the number of measured particles.
Measurements in quantum systems can overcome this limit and reach the Heisenberg limit proportional to 1/N.
However, quantum standards and sensors are challenging to put in practice and thei…
