The FIRE-RES project aims to improve the fire performance of lightweight polymer matrix composites, which are essential for sustainable transport. By developing novel materials that resist fire better, the project seeks to enhance safety and expand the use of these composites in various applications.
The greater use of polymer matrix composite materials would be highly desirable.
Their low weight, along with their inherent resistance to corrosion and fatigue, enables more fuel efficient and sustainable transport structures.
