This project focuses on developing a human monoclonal antibody to neutralize interferon-gamma, a key factor in hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, a severe immune disorder in children. The goal is to conduct clinical trials to assess the safety and efficacy of this treatment.
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare, devastating disease characterized by uncontrolled immune response that primarily affects young infants and children. HLH is usually fatal if untreated.
Even when treated, the overall survival rate is still as low as 60-70%.
