The FFL4E project aims to develop advanced technologies for energy-efficient freight locomotives. It focuses on enhancing operational flexibility and competitiveness in rail freight, targeting a significant shift from road to rail transport.
Since 2008, the rail freight market has not yet recovered from the global recession and profit margins in the railway sector have been falling throughout Europe.
