This project aims to develop computational models to optimize treatment regimens for age-related macular degeneration. By linking drug dosing with imaging techniques, it seeks to personalize therapy and improve patient outcomes in eye care.
With the ageing population, visual threatening illnesses are increasing.
For instance, age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is expected to affect almost 25 million Europeans by 2040.
The AMD treatment consists in regular injections of the anti-VEGF therapeutic drug (Lucentis, Avastin, Eylea) into the eye ball, vitreous, for the rest of the patient life.
