This project aims to enhance crop protection by unlocking the mechanisms of extracellular immunity in plants. By investigating how plant-secreted proteins are manipulated by pathogens, the research seeks to develop innovative strategies to combat plant diseases and improve food production in the face of climate change.
New crop protection strategies are essential to feed a growing world population.
Plant pathogens decrease food production by 18-30% and these losses are expected to increase with climate change and reduced agrochemical use.
