The STENTiT project aims to address below-the-knee critical limb ischemia by developing a first-in-class regenerative stent. This innovative stent, made from nanofibers, dissolves over time while promoting the formation of new vascular tissue, enhancing blood flow and reducing the need for amputations.
Below-the knee critical limb ischemia (BTK-CLI) is the severe blockage of the arteries in the limb, leading to reduced blood flow.
This condition currently affects over +3.5M people in the EU and US.
The current standard of care for BTK-CLI is balloon angioplasty.
