The EWIT project aims to improve e-waste management in African cities by developing effective recycling systems. It focuses on mapping existing data, creating an information portal, and providing tools and workshops to support local governments and industries in managing electronic waste.
Urbanization is on the rise in Africa and this trend is expected to continue in the future.
The fast growing use of technology is creating a rising e-waste stream, for which there is limited recycling capacity.
