This project investigates how genetic and molecular factors influence cell fate variations in nematodes, particularly focusing on the vulva system. It aims to understand the evolutionary constraints affecting these variations across different nematode species.
During development cells progressively acquire specific features that result in the definition of cellular fates.Inter- and intra-specific homologous cell lineages show significant variation in the adoption of particular cell fates.
Yet, at present the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying these intra-specific changes in cell fate and how variation in cell fates is biased during evolutionary trajectories are largely unknown.
