This project investigates how meiosis, a key process for sexual reproduction, adapts to environmental challenges, particularly whole genome duplication. By studying the plant Arabidopsis arenosa, the research aims to understand the evolution of meiotic stability and its implications for crop improvement.
Organisms rely on conserved cellular “house-keeping” processes for survival and fertility, but many of these can be upset by common environmental or cellular stresses.
