EVERBONE seeks to develop a new treatment for osteoporosis that mimics the effects of exercise on bone regeneration. By utilizing mechanically activated extracellular vesicles, the project aims to enhance bone healing and reduce fracture risks.
Every 30 seconds a person suffers an osteoporosis-related bone fracture in Europe, resulting in significant morbidity, mortality and healthcare costs estimated at €36billion annually.
Current anti-catabolic therapeutics are associated with severe side effects and are purely preventative, while the only anabolic treatment plateaus at 6 months.
