This project focuses on improving the poultry industry by developing a sensor platform called Eve for monitoring the hatching process of chickens. By utilizing real-time data analysis, it aims to reduce nonmarketable chicks and enhance animal welfare, ultimately increasing production efficiency.
The EU poultry industry produces 6.6 BN chickens a year for meat and egg production.
These chickens are hatched in specialized farms called hatcheries.
However, 14% of the incubated eggs never hatches and 6.9% of the produced chickens is unmarketable due to deformities or health problems.
