The ETAB project explores quantum atom optics using a new source of twin atom beams. It aims to investigate strongly correlated atomic states and their applications in quantum simulation and fundamental physics, including tests of quantum mechanics principles with entangled atoms.
Many of the fascinating phenomena predicted by quantum mechanics, like non-local correlations and entanglement, were implemented with photons in the framework of quantum optics.
It is today a mature field with applications emerging in cryptography, random number generation, and quantum computation.
