The ESCAPE project aims to enhance weather prediction and climate modeling by developing advanced computing capabilities. It focuses on creating efficient algorithms and software to better simulate complex physical phenomena on modern hardware, addressing the challenges of extreme-scale applications.
ESCAPE will develop world-class, extreme-scale computing capabilities for European operational numerical weather prediction (NWP) and future climate models.
The biggest challenge for state-of-the-art NWP arises from the need to simulate complex physical phenomena within tight production schedules.
