Capillary endothelial cells (ECs) are not just passive conduits for delivering blood.
Rather, ECs also play tissue-specific functions by providing highly specialized sets of angiocrine factors that control tissue homeostasis, regulate stem cell self-renewal, and guide organ regeneration without provoking fibrosis.
