The EMBIOMO project focuses on understanding embolism in plants, which disrupts water transport and threatens forest health. By using advanced imaging techniques, it aims to study embolism dynamics and develop models to predict plant resilience to drought.
Embolism, the formation of air bubbles in a plant’s vascular system responsible for water transport (the xylem), disrupts the flow of water and nutrients, leading to hydraulic failure.
