This project aims to enhance our understanding of gravitational waves from binary black holes and their implications for General Relativity. It focuses on identifying signatures of modifications to the theory in extreme gravitational fields, enabling precision tests with future observatories.
The detection of gravitational waves (GWs) from binary black holes (BBHs) allows us to test the predictions of General Relativity (GR) in a highly-warped regime for the first time in history.
Input from fundamental physics indicates that GR is not a complete theory, and therefore it must undergo modifications that would become relevant in extremely powerful gravitational fields.
