The EFFICIENT project aims to develop eco-friendly fire suppression systems for aircraft cargo holds, replacing harmful halons with alternatives like water mist and inert gases. It focuses on assessing the effectiveness and distribution of these agents in fire scenarios.
Fire suppression and explosion protection have used halons in many applications because they are electrically nonconductive, dissipate rapidly without residue, are safe for limited human exposure, and are extremely efficient in extinguishing most types of fires.
