The Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative aims to create a market for energy-efficient mortgages to support climate change goals. It focuses on integrating various stakeholders and developing guidelines to enhance energy efficiency in building financing, promoting sustainable practices in the banking sector.
The European Union (EU) has set itself ambitious climate change targets.
The scale of investment needed to meet the energy savings targets alone is estimated at €180 billion p.a., three quarters of which is accounted for by energy efficiency in buildings.
