The ECONET project aims to develop and test innovative technologies for network devices that significantly reduce energy consumption. By focusing on dynamic power management and green technologies, the project seeks to cut energy waste in wired networks by up to 80% over time.
Nowadays, it is widely recognised that the sole introduction of low consumption silicon elements will not be sufficient to effectively curb tomorrow's network energy requirements.
