This project investigates animal movement in response to changing ecological conditions, focusing on ungulates like moose. It aims to develop a model that combines ecological and cognitive theories to understand movement patterns, ultimately helping to reduce vehicle collisions with wildlife in Norway.
Movement is the primary response of animals to spatiotemporal heterogeneity in ecological conditions.
The consequences of movement for individual fitness, populations and ecological communities give this behavior a central place in ecological theory.
Human activities alter both spatiotemporal variations in ecological conditions triggering movements (e.g. resource distribution) and availability of movement corridors (e.g. destruction of migration routes).
