EAST-STROKE investigates the effectiveness of early rhythm control therapy in preventing adverse cardiovascular outcomes in patients with acute ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation. The study aims to provide evidence for better secondary prevention strategies in this high-risk patient population.
Patients with acute ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation are at high risk for recurrent stroke and other adverse cardiovascular complications.
Usual care comprises oral anticoagulation and rate control.
