This project investigates the impact of biomass burning on climate change by analyzing molecular markers found in ice cores and lake sediments. It aims to understand historical fire regimes and their correlation with climate parameters, particularly during early agricultural activities.
Human activities are altering the global climate system at rates faster than ever recorded in geologic time.
Ample observational evidence exists for anthropogenic climate change including measured increased in atmospheric CO2, temperature and sea level rise.
