This project explores the development of bio-inspired foldamers that mimic biological information transfer mechanisms. By creating structures that can change conformation in response to chemical stimuli, it aims to advance molecular devices for sensing and communication.
By combining biology's information storage and replication strategies, namely specific hydrogen-bonding between nucleobases, with the potential for hydrogen-bond reorganisation in novel 'refoldable foldamers', we propose to develop a new, artificial but bio-inspired mechanism for the transfer of information in chemical systems.
