This project investigates how physiological rhythms, such as breathing and heart rate, influence brain activity and behavior. By using advanced neuroimaging and physiological recordings, it aims to develop a model that explains the interactions between body states and brain dynamics in both health and disease.
Rhythmic peripheral signals like respiratory, cardiac, and gastric activity not only serve our bodies’ strive for homeostasis, but actively modulate brain activity and behaviour.
